PLANT: short foliage, narrow to medium width
SHOOT (UPPER PART): very weak to weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration
PETIOLE: very short to short, absent or very weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration on upper side
LEAF BLADE: short to medium length, narrow to medium width, small to medium length to width ratio
LEAF BLADE (UPPER SIDE): very weak to weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration
LEAF BLADE (LOWER SIDE): green between veins, green veins
PEDICEL: medium length, absent or very weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration
FLOWER: single type, medium width, one colour excluding eye zone
COROLLA (INNER SIDE): light violet (RHS 77C)
EYE ZONE: small to medium sized, light blue pink (RHS 69D)
UPPER PETAL: narrow to medium width
LATERAL PETAL: broad
LOWER PETAL: medium length, medium purple (RHS 67A)
Origin & Breeding History: 'SAKIMP053' originated from an interspecific hybridization made in Misato, Japan. The hybridization was made between the female parental line 'NJ-333-49H-6H' and the male parental line 'NJ-1174A' in July 2013. The resulting F1 progeny was evaluated in a field trial conducted in Misato, Japan. A single plant was selected based on its flower colour, plant vigour, and rooting characteristics.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'SAKIMP053' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 2019/1066, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2020. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
