Variety Description
Variety used for comparison: 'Balandcit' (Landmark Citrus)
Summary: The plants of 'LANZ0039' are dense and shorter that those of 'Balandcit', which are of sparse density. The upper side of the leaf blade of 'LANZ0039' is medium green while that of 'Balandcit' is dark green. The peduncle of 'LANZ0039' is shorter than that of 'Balandcit'. When fully opened, the inner side of the corolla of the flower of 'LANZ0039' is medium yellow orange while that of 'Balandcit' is medium orange.

INFLORESCENCE: located in axillary position, domed shape in profile, contains flowers of more than two colours
COROLLA (INNER SIDE): medium yellow (closest to RHS 9A) when newly opened, medium yellow orange (closest to RHS 17A) when fully opened, light red (closest to RHS 43B) when aged, orange eye
COROLLA LOBES: arrangement is touching, obtuse apex, incurved along longitudinal axis, medium degree of undulation of margin
Origin & Breeding History: 'LANZ0039' originated from a controlled cross between the female parent, a proprietary breeding line designated 'H0030-1', and the male parent variety 'LANZ0032' in August 2016 in Gilroy, California, U.S.A.. The resulting seed was sown in December 2016, from which a single unique seedling was selected in Gilroy, California in April 2017 based on its plant growth habit and vigour, flower colour, length of flowering season and seed set.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'LANZ0039' was conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2023 at BioFlora, Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 15 plants each per variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 29, 2023. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety on June 14, 2023. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
