Variety Description
Varieties used for comparison: 'Balandolim' (Landmark Gold Improved) and 'LANZ0040' (Bandolista Pineapple)
Summary: The plants of ‘LANZ0041' are smaller that those of ‘Balandolim'. The leaf blade of ‘LANZ0041' is smaller that those of both reference varieties. The leaf blade of ‘LANZ0041' is dark green while that of ‘LANZ0040' is medium green. The peduncle of ‘LANZ0041' is shorter than that of both reference varieties. When newly opened, the inner side of the corolla of the flower of ‘LANZ0041' is dark yellow while that of ‘Balandolim' is medium yellow orange and that of ‘LANZ0040' is medium yellow. When fully opened, the inner side of the corolla of the flower of ‘LANZ0041' is dark yellow while that of ‘Balandolim' is medium yellow orange. The inner side of the corolla of the flower of ‘LANZ0041' has an eye present while that of ‘Balandolim' does not.

COROLLA (INNER SIDE): dark yellow (closest to RHS 14A) when newly opened and fully opened, orange eye
COROLLA LOBES: arrangement is touching, obtuse apex, incurved along longitudinal axis, medium degree of undulation of margin
Origin & Breeding History: ‘LANZ0041' originated from a controlled cross between the female parent, a proprietary breeding line designated ‘G0011-4', and pollen from an unknown male parent in August 2014 in Gilroy, California, U.S.A.. The resulting seed was sown in March 2015, from which a single unique seedling was selected in June 2015 based on its plant growth habit and vigour, length of flowering period, flower colour and foliage colour.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for ‘LANZ0041' was conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2023 at BioFlora, Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 15 plants each per variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 29, 2023. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety on June 19, 2023. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
