Variety used for comparison: 'Zanardi'
Summary: The anthocyanin colouration on the leaf of Joplin' has a strong to very strong brownish hue whereas that of Zanardi' has a very strong purplish hue. The leaf of Joplin' has a weak to medium degree of blistering whereas the leaf of Zanardi' has a medium degree of blistering. The seed of Joplin' is black whereas that of Zanardi' is white. The plants of Joplin' have no resistance to Nasonovia ribisnigri biotype Nr: 0 whereas the plants of Zanardi' have this resistance present.

Origin & Breeding History: Joplin' (breeder's reference NUN 06529 LTL) originated from a cross between two proprietary parent lines conducted in Spain in 2008. Over ten years, continuous selection and selfing occurred. The final selection of Joplin' was made in Spain in 2018 based on leaf colour intensity and leaf type.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of Joplin' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number SLA4817, purchased from the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trial was conducted by the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands from 2023 to 2024.
