Variety used for comparison: 'Lavender Lady'
Summary: The leaf of ‘SMNSHSO' has a cordate base whereas that of ‘Lavender Lady' has a truncate base. The corolla lobe of ‘SMNSHSO' has a horizontal attitude whereas that of ‘Lavender Lady' has a recurved attitude. The corolla lobe of ‘SMNSHSO' has absent or weak undulation whereas that of ‘Lavender Lady' has a medium degree of undulation. The inner side of the corolla lobe of ‘SMNSHSO' is medium violet whereas that of ‘Lavender Lady' is medium blue violet.

Origin & Breeding History: ‘SMNSHSO' originated as a mutation made by irradiating seed of an unnamed proprietary selection in Grand Haven, Michigan, USA in 2007. The new variety ‘SMNSHSO' was selected in 2007 based on plant habit, flower size, flower colour and flower fragrance. Asexual reproduction by softwood cuttings was first conducted in 2011.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of ‘SMNSHSO' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 20220084, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany from 2023 to 2025. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
