Variety Description

Variety used for comparison: 'TVMD294'

Summary: The corolla lobe of ‘MANZ0029' is symmetric or slightly asymmetric whereas that of ‘TVMD294' is moderately asymmetric. The basal half of the inner side of the corolla throat of ‘MANZ0029' is dark orange whereas that of ‘TVMD294' is medium yellow orange. The outer side of the corolla tube of ‘MANZ0029' is light green whereas that of ‘TVMD294' is light green with a red flush.

PETIOLE: medium length, medium green, absent or very weak anthocyanin colouration, no pubescence

Origin & Breeding History: ‘MANZ0029' originated from a controlled cross between the female parent, a proprietary seedling designated ‘DIP-252', and the male parent, a proprietary seedling designated ‘DIP-059', conducted in Gilroy, California, USA in April of 2014. The resulting seed was sown in February of 2015. The new variety ‘MANZ0029' was selected in January of 2016 based on plant habit, flowering time, repeat flowering, flower colour and foliage colour.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of ‘MANZ0029' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2023/1070, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2024. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
