Variety Description

Varieties used for comparison: 'NOT20101' (Purple Kush) and 'SOT20R07-005' (Driftwood Diesel)

Summary: The plants of ‘SOT20R07-007' are taller than those of the reference varieties. The central leaflet of ‘SOT20R07-007' is longer than the central leaflet of ‘NOT20101' and shorter than that of ‘SOT20R07-005'. The central leaflet of ‘SOT20R07-007' is narrower than that of ‘SOT20R07-005'. The petiole of ‘SOT20R07-007' has a strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration whereas that of ‘SOT20R07-005' has an absent or very weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration. The inflorescence of ‘SOT20R07-007' has a higher THC content than the inflorescence of ‘NOT20101' and a lower THC content than that of ‘SOT20R07-005'.

SEX EXPRESSION: low proportion of hermaphrodite and male plants, high proportion of female plants, mid-season female flowering

STEM: medium green, medium thickness

LEAF: medium number of leaflets, no variegation, medium intensity of green
PETIOLE: medium length, strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration

FEMALE FLOWER: medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration, medium to high THC content, absent or very low CBD

STIGMA: medium length and width, absent or weak contortion

Origin & Breeding History: 'SOT20R07-007' was developed from a selection of an unknown heterogeneous population. The first propagation took place April, 2020 in Comox, BC. Selections were based on THC content, terpene content, yield and aroma. Final propagation was done through vegetative cuttings in February 2021.content, yield and aroma. Tests & Trials: The comparative trials of 'SOT20R07-007' were conducted in a greenhouse in Comox, British Columbia, during the summer of 2024. The trial included 2 replicates of 12 plants per variety for a total of 24 plants of each of the candidate and reference varieties. There was 1 plant per 10 cm by 10 cm Grodan rockwool cubes placed approximately 25 cm apart. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants or parts of plants of each variety. THC was analyzed using high-performance liquid chromatography. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student's t-test.
