PLANT: lignified shrub
STEM: dark green, lignified parts are medium brown, winged
LEAF: decussate arrangement along stem, two per whorl
PETIOLE: absent
LEAF BLADE: brown green (darker than RHS N137A) with lighter green veins on upper side, brown green (RHS 146B) on lower side, sunken veins, light green veins on lower side, elliptic shape, concave in cross-section, straight along longitudinal axis, weakly undulated margin, acuminate tip
INFLORESCENCE: hanging panicle type, two bracts per whorl, 80 to 100 flowers in biggest panicle
PEDUNCLE: light green (RHS 144B) with red distal part, square shape in cross-section
BRACT: light green (RHS 144C), ovate shape, concave in cross-section, entire margin, narrow acute tip
PEDICEL: purple red (RHS 58D), round shape in cross-section
SECONDARY PEDICEL: violet (RHS 75B), round shape in cross-section
FLOWER: mean of 15 mm in diameter
CALYX: coalescent type, ovary enclosing, violet (RHS 75B), no lobes
COROLLA: four to five petals, fleshy type, arrangement is not touching
PETAL: light blue violet (RHS 76B), obovate shape, asymmetrical, concave in cross-section, weakly incurved to straight along longitudinal axis, entire margin, rounded tip

Origin & Breeding History: 'Arosa' was bred and developed by the breeders, Elly Bak and Nicolaas D.M. Steur, both employees of Corn. Bak B.V. in Assendelft, Netherlands. It originated from a controlled cross conducted in 2009 in Assendelft between two numbered proprietary selections. 'Arosa' was selected in 2011 based on its medium plant size and excellent flower longevity. Asexual reproduction of 'Arosa' by cuttings was first conducted in 2012 in Assendelft, Netherlands.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Arosa' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2013/2779, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by Naktuinbouw in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands, in 2014. Colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
