Origin & Breeding History: ‘Mammoth' originated from a controlled cross between the female parent, an unnamed proprietary Tripsacum dactyloides seedling, and the male parent, an unnamed proprietary Miscanthus sacchariflorus seedling, conducted in Boskoop, Netherlands in the fall of 2008. From the cross, the new variety ‘Mammoth' was selected as a single plant in the summer of 2010 based on plant vigour, plant habit, plant height and leaf colour. Asexual reproduction by root cuttings was initiated in the fall of 2010

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of ‘Mammoth' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 20220164, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany from 2023 to 2024.
