Origin & Breeding History: 'Pardon My Cerise' was bred and monitored by Kevin Hurd and Hans Hansen, in the summer of 2009, in Zeeland, Michigan, USA. It originated from a line cross between the variety 'Petite Delight', as the female parent and an unknown proprietary line as the male parent. From the resulting progeny, 'Pardon My Cerise' was selected for further evaluation in 2010. Selection was based on flower colour, growth habit, and disease resistance. Initial asexual propagation was conducted by stem cuttings in 2010.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Pardon My Cerise' was conducted as an outdoor trial during the summer of 2017 at Variety Rights Management in Oxford Station, Ontario. The trial consisted of 15 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. The plants were grown in 16 cm pots with 40 cm spacing between pots under a galvanized steel structure covered with black mesh fabric. The observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants or parts of 10 plants in July 2017. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
