Origin & Breeding History: 'B2543DH63' is a restorer line in the process of F1 hybrid production. It was derived as a double haploid line created from the microspore cultures of a hybrid that originated from a recurrent cross between O2500(RfoRfo) and B59DH7(rfrf), as the recurrent parent. The final cross was conducted in April, 2014 at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Research and Development Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. 'B2543DH63' was selected from the double haploid population based on the homozygosity of the Rfo gene, oil content, protein content, glucosinolate content, agronomic performance as well as disease tolerance to white rust.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trials for 'B2543DH63' were grown during the summer of 2018 and 2019 at the Ag-Quest Research Farm in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Plots were arranged in a RCB design with 4 replicates per variety in each year. Each plot consisted of 6 rows. Each row was 5 metres in length with 0.2 metre spacing between rows. Measured characteristics were based on a minimum of 30 measurements per variety except silique characteristics which were based on 60 measurements. Mean differences were significant at the 5% probability level based on a Student`s t-test.
