Variety Description

Variety used for comparison: 'Jefam'

Summary: The leaf blade of ‘LP1' is long and broad to very broad while that of ‘Jefam' is medium to long and broad. The sinus on the leaf blade of ‘LP1' is medium to deep while that of ‘Jefam' is of a medium depth. The leaf blade of ‘LP1' has medium to strong blistering while that of ‘Jefam' has a medium degree of blistering. In the summer, the upper side of the leaf blade of ‘LP1' is green brown while that of ‘Jefam' is green. The bract of ‘LP1' is medium to large while that of ‘Jefam' is of a medium size. The flower of ‘LP1' is pink while that of ‘Jefam' is white.

Origin & Breeding History: 'LP1' originated from an open pollinated cross between an unknown proprietary seedling as the female parent and an unknown male parent in Achtmaal, the Netherlands in 2013. The new variety was selected in August 2016 based on plant growth habit and seasonal foliage colour. Asexual reproduction of ‘LP1' by softwood cuttings was first conducted in August 2016 in Achtmaal, the Netherlands.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'LP1' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 20200631, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, Angers, France. The trial was conducted at the Post-Registration Variety Experimentation Station of the Polish Research Centre for Cultivar Testing in Åšrem, Poland, in 2021 and 2022.
