Description:

PLANT: semi-upright growth habit, tall to very tall

LEAF: short to medium length, medium to broad, very shallow to shallow depth of indentation of margin, no variegation, light green upper side

YOUNG FLOWER HEAD: violet to purple (RHS N78A to N79C) inner side of ray floret
FLOWER HEAD: no paracorolla, medium number of ray florets, medium diameter, inward rolling of longitudinal margins of ray florets absent on all flower heads
RAY FLORET: medium length, medium width, medium ratio of length to width, obtuse apex
RAY FLORET (INNER SIDE): dark violet (RHS 79B) basal part, purple (RHS N79C) middle part, purple (RHS 70A) apical part, purple (RHS 70A) tip, medium conspicuousness of longitudinal stripes
RAY FLORET (OUTER SIDE): purple colour group
DISC: anemone type, very large diameter
DISC FLORET: predominantly petaloid and funnel shaped
PETALOID DISC FLORET: dark violet to purple (RHS N79B to N79C) inner side
FUNNEL-SHAPED DISC FLORET: purple (RHS N79C) outer side of tube

Origin & Breeding History: 'KLEOE14227' was bred and developed by the breeder, Silke Wagener, in Stuttgart, Germany. It originated from a controlled cross conducted during the summer of 2010, in Nairobi, Kenya, between the selection designated 'OE 2008 0238', as the female parent, and the selection designated 'OE 2009 0761', as the male parent. From the resulting progeny, seedlings were selected in May 2011, in Stuttgart, Germany, for their branching habit, leaf quality, and flower size, colour and shape. These seedlings were evaluated in greenhouse trials in Stuttgart, in the spring of 2012, 2013 and 2014, and assessed using prior selection criteria, as well as, plant vigour, disease resistance, and time of flowering. In May 2014, in Stuttgart, Germany, 'KLEOE14227' was selected for commercialization.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLEOE14227' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2015/1630, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt under reference number OST 676 in Hannover, Germany, in 2016. The colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
