PLANT: semi-upright growth habit, tall to very tall
LEAF: short to medium length, medium width, very shallow to shallow margin indentations, no variegation, medium green
YOUNG FLOWER HEAD: violet (RHS 77B-N78B) ray floret
FLOWER HEAD: no paracorolla, medium to many ray florets, medium diameter
RAY FLORET: short to medium length, medium width, medium length to width ratio, obtuse apex, no inward rolling of longitudinal margins on all flower heads, violet (RHS N80C) basal part, violet (RHS 77C) middle part, violet (RHS 77D) apical part, weak conspicuousness of longitudinal stripes, tip slightly different colour from apical part, lower side violet
DISC: anemone type, large diameter, petaloid and funnel-shaped florets
DISC FLORET: dark violet (RHS 79D) outer side of funnel shaped florets, violet (RHS 77B) upper side of petaloid florets
COROLLA TUBE (OUTER SIDE): dark purple red
Origin & Breeding History: 'KLEOE14226' originated from a controlled cross conducted by the breeder in the summer of 2011 in Nairobi, Kenya. The cross was made between female parent variety 'OE-2008-0238' and male parent variety 'OE-2009-0949'. Seedlings were selected in May 2012, in Stuttgart, Germany based on plant growth habit, branching characteristics, leaf quality, flower size and flower colour. The selected seedlings were evaluated in greenhouse trials in the spring of 2012, 2013 and 2014, where they were assessed for plant vigour, early flowering, flower size and flower colour. A single seedling was selected for commercialization and named 'KLEOE14226' in May 2014, in Stuttgart, Germany.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLEOE14226' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2015/1629, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Bundessortenamt, in Hannover, Germany, in 2016. The colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
