Origin & Breeding History: 'Celina' originated from a cross conducted by the breeder, Stein Harald Hjeltnes, in 1985 in Balsgnrd, Kristianstad, Sweden. The cross was made between the female parent variety 'Voloree de Juillet' and the male parent variety 'Williams', both varieties of Pyrus communis. 'Celina' was discovered and selected by the breeder within the progeny in 1997 in Njos, Leikanger, Norway. Selection was based on maturity date, fruit quality, shelf life, fruit appearance and production characteristics.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Celina' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 20113173, purchased from the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Prufstelle Wurzen, Germany from 2014 to 2016.
