Summary: 'Evka' is an ivy geranium that can be distinguished from the reference variety 'Mini Cascade Red' by its pale green, variegated leaves. The flower colour of 'Evka' (RHS 45C) differs slightly from 'Mini Cascade Red' (RHS 46B).

Description:

'Evka' is an ivy geranium variety with spreading growth habit and green stems. The leaves have an open base, crenate margins, and are variegated pale green with white on the margins. 'Evka' produces red, single inflorescences. The bud is narrow elliptic in shape. The petal margins are entire. There are striped petal markings on upper and lower petals of 'Evka' that are weakly conspicuous. The white zone at the base of the upper petal is small.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Evka' is a mutation of the variety 'Ville de Paris'. It was discovered in Slovakia in February, 1994.

Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'Evka' were conducted at Schenck Farms and Greenhouses, St. Catharines, Ontario during the spring of 1998. The trials consisted of 10 plants per variety, planted in 11 cm pots. Measured characteristics were based on 10 measurements.
