Summary: 'Amrilight Pinkspla Two' differs from 'Americana Light Pink Splash' in flower colour. The florets of 'Amrilight Pinkspla Two' are a darker, more lavender shade of pink than those of 'Americana Light Pink Splash', which are pale pink. 'Amrilight Pinkspla Two' is earlier flowering than 'Americana Light Pink Splash' and has longer peduncles.
Description:
'Amrilight Pinkspla Two' is a zonal pelargonium variety. 'Amrilight Pinkspla Two' has an intermediate growth habit and green stems. Stem thickness is thin to medium. The leaf blade is a type one shape with an open base and bicrenate margins of medium waviness. The leaves are medium green in colour with no variegation and no leaf zone.
'Amrilight Pinkspla Two' produces light pink inflorescences with darker pink markings. The flower bud is elliptic in shape and the florets are semi-double. The petal margin is entire and the upper petal width is medium. There is a white zone of small to medium size at the base of the upper petals, and upper petal markings consist of dark pink (RHS 57B-C) stripes and macules of medium to strong conspicuousness. Lower petal markings consist of strongly conspicuous dark pink macules.
Origin & Breeding History: 'Amrilight Pinkspla Two' was derived from a cross made in 1996 by Goldsmith Seeds Inc., in Gilroy, California, USA. The seed parent was the variety 'Melody', and the pollen parent was a variety designated 4134-1. A single plant selection was made based on flower colour, form, and plant habit. 'Amrilight Pinkspla Two' was developed by the pedigree system.
Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'Amrilight Pinkspla Two' were conducted in St. Albert, Alberta in September, 2000. The trials consisted of 11 plants of the candidate and 10 plants of the reference variety, grown indoors in 13 cm square pots.
