'Klesatha' is a zonal pelargonium variety. 'Klesatha' has an upright to intermediate growth habit and green stems. The stems are medium in thickness and have medium pubescence. The leaf blade is a type one shape with an open base and crenate margins. There is weak to medium lobing present which is shallow to medium in depth. The leaf blade margin has weak to moderate waviness and the upper surface of the blade has sparse to medium pubescence. The leaves are light to medium green in colour with no variegation. The leaf zone is very weakly conspicuous, green in colour and located in the normal position. The leaf zone is rarely found on young leaves. 'Klesatha' flowers early and produces a low to moderate number of red inflorescences. Peduncles have dense pubescence and weak to medium anthocyanin colouration. Swelling on the peduncle is located at the base. The flower bud is elliptic in shape and the florets are semi-double. The petal margin is entire. There is a very small white zone at the base of the upper petals. There are no petal markings. The pedicel has medium to dense pubescence and the colour in the middle third is medium red. There is no swelling present. The sepals have moderate pubescence and are green and red in colour.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Klesatha' originated from the controlled cross between 'Klespri' x Zl 174 which was made in Stuttgart, Germany in 1992. Seedlings were selected in June 1993, based on the criteria for double flowers, flower colour, upright compact growth habit and early flowering.

Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'Klesatha' were conducted in a polyhouse during the spring/summer of 2001 in Frankton, Ontario. The trials included a total of 10 plants per variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings transplanted into 11 cm pots. All measured characteristics were based on ten measurements.
