Summary: 'Fiworewhi' has a smaller plant size and produces fewer branches than 'Fiwocher'. 'Fiworewhi' has a larger white zone at the base of the upper petal than 'Fiwocher'.
Description:
'Fiworewhi' is a pelargonium variety which has very upright growth habit. The stems are green in colour, medium to wide in thickness and have moderate pubescence. The leaf has a wide open base. The margins are crenate and the incisions are medium in depth. There is medium to strong lobing and the margins have weak to medium waviness. There is medium to strong pubescence on the upper side of the leaf blade. The colour of the leaf blade is medium green and there is no variegation. The moderately conspicuous leaf zone on the upper side of the leaf blade is green in colour. The petiole has moderate to strong pubescence.
'Fiworewhi' belongs to the red inflorescence colour group. The peduncle has moderate pubescence and weak anthocyanin colouration. The flower buds are elliptic in shape and the florets are single. The petals do not overlap. The petal margins have irregular dentation and the upper petal width is narrow. There are no petal markings. The upper petal has a very large white zone at the base. The pedicel has dense pubescence and is light red in colour. The sepals are green in colour and have moderate to dense pubescence.
Origin & Breeding History: 'Fiworewhi' originated from a combination breeding program conducted in Dresden, Germany in 1997. A pollen mixture from the breeding group 7K-85 was used to pollinate all plants within group 7K-34. 'Fiworewhi' was selected in June 1998 based on its compact growth habit, bi-coloured flowers and good outdoor performance.
Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'Fiworewhi' were conducted in St. Thomas, Ontario in the summer of 2003. The plants were grown from rooted cuttings transplanted into 15cm pots in week 16. All colour characteristics were determined using the 2001 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) colour chart and measured characteristics were based on ten plant measurements.
