Summary: The foliage of the plants of 'OGLGER20041' is wider than that of 'Melody'. The leaf blade of 'OGLGER20041' is longer than that of 'Melody'. The marking on the inner side of the upper petal of 'OGLGER20041' is of medium conspicuousness while that of 'Melody' is weakly conspicuous. The largest spot on the inner side of the upper petal of 'OGLGER20041' is medium sized while that of 'Melody' is small.

LEAF ZONE: absent or very weak conspicuousness, located towards base, small

PEDUNCLE: very weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration on middle third
PEDICEL: medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration on upper third, no swelling
SEPAL: very weak reflexing, medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration in middle of broadest sepal
FLOWER: semi-double type, upper petals are touching lower petals, few petals, concave to flat in cross-section in lateral view, no irregularly distributed stripes or blotches
UPPER PETAL: spatulate shape, entire margin at apex, margin of inner side is purple red (RHS N57C), middle of inner side is purple red (lighter than RHS N57C), outer side is light blue pink (RHS 62C) with purple red (RHS N57B-C) veins, stripes and spot/spots present on inner side, largest spot is medium sized and purple red (RHS N57A-B), medium sized white zone at base on inner side
LOWER PETAL: margin of inner side is purple red (RHS N57C), middle of inner side is blue pink (RHS N66C), outer side is blue pink (RHS N66D) at margin with light blue pink (73C-D) extending from middle to base, weak conspicuousness of marking on inner side, stripes and spot/spots present on inner side, largest spot is small, small white zone at base on inner side
INNER PETAL: middle of inner side is blue pink (RHS N66C)

Origin & Breeding History: 'OGLGER20041' originated from a controlled cross conducted in Encinitas, California, USA by the breeder, Eveline Barends of De Lier, the Netherlands. This new variety was selected in August 2009 based on its flower and leaf colour, plant vigour, early flowering and overall floriferousness. Asexual reproduction of 'OGLGER20041' was first conducted by cuttings in February 2010 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, USA.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial of 'OGLGER20041' was conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2015 at Bioflora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included a total of 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 8, 2015. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or parts of plants, of each variety on June 3, 2015. All colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
