Summary: The intensity of anthocyanin colouration of the stem nodes of 'Rookie' is medium, but stronger, than the intensity of anthocyanin colour of the stem nodes of 'Baselga', which is medium. The plants of 'Rookie' are medium to tall, but taller, than the plants of 'Baselga', which are medium to tall. The degree of glossiness of the upper side of the leaf blade is medium for 'Rookie' whereas the degree of glossiness of the leaf blade is weak to medium for 'Baselga'.

Description:

SEEDLING: anthocyanin colouration of hypocotyl present

PLANT: medium to tall, no shortened internodes in upper part, medium to long internodes on primary side shoots
STEM: medium length, medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration of nodes, sparse hairiness of nodes

LEAF BLADE: long, broad, medium green on upper side, ovate to broad elliptic shape, weak to medium undulation of margin, medium degree of blistering, moderately concave profile in cross-section, medium degree of glossiness on upper side

Origin & Breeding History: 'Rookie' (breeder designation 35-237 RZ) originated from a controlled cross conducted in June 2009, in De Lier, Netherlands. From the resulting progeny, 'Rookie' was selected in September 2010 for its plant vigour, fruit quality, yield, and resistance to Tabomavirus pathotypes P0, P1, P1-2 and P1-2-3.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Rookie' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number PPS1410, purchased from Naktuinbouw, Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands. The trial was conducted by Naktuinbouw, Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands, in 2013.
