Description:

PLANT: medium height, medium diameter, creeping growth habit
STEM: small diameter at base, absent or very sparse pubescence, purple red

PETIOLE: short to medium length, narrow, pubescent, flush of red colour
LEAF BLADE: short to medium length, narrow, moderately elongated length to width ratio, broadest part towards base, two colours on upper side, main colour of upper side is brown green (RHS N137A), secondary colour of upper side is green grey (RHS N189A), main colour of lower side is dark purple red (RHS 185A), medium degree of rugosity between veins, concave shape in cross-section, acute apex

INFLORESCENCE: medium to long
PEDUNCLE: round in cross-section, red purple
SPIKE: short to medium length

Origin & Breeding History: 'Eden Rosso' was bred and developed by the breeder, Obed J. Smit, in Sappemeer, Netherlands. It originated from a cross conducted in June 2010, between an unnamed variety of Peperomia marmorata, as the female parent, and an unnamed variety of Peperomia metallica, as the male parent. From the resulting progeny, 'Eden Rosso' was selected in August 2010, in Sappemeer, for its plant growth habit, leaf colour and leaf appearance. Asexual propagation of 'Eden Rosso' by vegetative cuttings was first conducted in September 2010, in Sappemeer, Netherlands.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Eden Rosso' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2011/2661, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Naktuinbouw - Variety Centre, in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands, in 2013. The colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
