Origin & Breeding History: 'KLEPH18389' originated from a controlled cross conducted by the breeder, Antonella Capo, in Latina, Italy, in July 2015. The cross was made between the female parent variety 'PH-2015-1066' and the male parent variety 'PH-2015-1077'. The resultant seedlings were selected in April 2016, in Latina, Italy, based on plant quality and flower colour pattern stability. The selected seedlings were evaluated in numerous greenhouse trials from October 2016 to April 2018. A single seedling was finally selected for commercialization and named 'KLEPH18389' in the spring of 2017.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'KLEPH18389' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2018/1134, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Bundessortenamt, in Hannover, Germany, in 2019. The colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
