Summary: The flower of ‘MIPEKA001' is of medium width whereas that of ‘Purple Pirouette' is broad to very broad. The main colour on the inner side of the corolla lobe of ‘MIPEKA001' is dark violet whereas that of ‘Vansancan Blue Picotee' is medium blue violet and that of ‘Purple Pirouette' is medium violet. The inner side of the corolla tube of ‘MIPEKA001' is dark violet whereas that of ‘Vansancan Blue Picotee' is medium blue violet.

Origin & Breeding History: ‘MIPEKA001' originated from a naturally occuring whole plant mutation of the variety ‘MIYOPEEA' discovered in Nagaizumicho, Skizuoka, Japan in November of 2017. The new variety ‘MIPEKA001' was selected based on plant growth habit, flower colour and garden performance. Asexual reproduction by in vitro propagules was initiated in Japan in November of 2017.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of ‘MIPEKA001' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 33716, purchased from the Plant Variety Protection Office, Intellectual Property Division, Export and International Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in Tokyo, Japan. The trial was conducted at the Nishi-Nihon Station in Okayama, Japan in 2020. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
