Variety Description

Variety used for comparison: 'WGPESMVMID' (Supertunia Mini Vista Midnight)

Summary: The leaves of 'WNPETMVUM24' are longer than those of 'WGPESMVMID'. The flowers of ‘WNPETMVUM24' are narrower than those of 'WGPESMVMID'. The inner side of the corolla tube of ‘WNPETMVUM24' is dark violet whereas that of ‘WGPESMVMID' is black at the top and dark violet towards the base. The inner side of the corolla tube of ‘WNPETMVUM24' has a medium conspicuousness of veins whereas that of ‘WGPESMVMID' has absent or very weak conspicuousness of veins.

LEAF BLADE: ovate shape, acute apex, no variegation, medium green

PEDICEL: absent to weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration
FLOWER: single type
COROLLA: degree of lobing ranging from medium to strong, medium degree of undulation
COROLLA (INNER SIDE): absent or very weak conspicuousness of veins, purple veins, dark violet (closest to RHS 83A), no secondary colour
COROLLA LOBE: cuspidate apex
COROLLA TUBE (INNER SIDE): dark violet (RHS 86A and 77A), medium conspicuousness of veins
COROLLA TUBE (OUTER SIDE): dark violet (RHS 79B-C)
ANTHER: light blue pollen

Origin & Breeding History: 'WNPETMVUM24' originated from a controlled cross between the parent proprietary seedlings ‘PC1010-03' and ‘PU17080-02' conducted in Bonsall, California, U.S.A. on October 20, 2018. 'WNPETMVUM24' was selected on May 18, 2019 based on plant vigour, branching density, flowering time and flower colour. Asexual reproduction by terminal cuttings was initiated on May 22, 2019.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'WNPETMVUM24' was conducted in a polyhouse during the spring of 2024 in St. Thomas, Ontario. The trial included 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 15.2 cm pots on April 9, 2024. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants on May 30, 2024. Mean differences were significant at the 5% confidence probability level based on a paired Student's t-test. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
