Origin & Breeding History: 'SAKPXC018' (experimental designation K2014-J-158) originated from a hybridization conducted by the breeders in Kakegawa, Japan in June 2012. The hybridization was made between the female parent, a Petunia proprietary line named 'AM7-6A-1A-1A-1A-1A-1A' and the male parent, a proprietary Calibrachoa line named '3Ca-201R'. In July 2012, embryo rescue techniques were used to obtain five ovules. In January 2013, several plants were obtained and a single plant was selected based on flower and throat colour and plant growth habit and designated 'K2014-J-158'. In February 2013, 'K2014-J-158' was vegetatively propagated and cultivated in an open field. In May 2013, the variety was found to be stable and was further propagated in December 2013. The breeders confirmed that the new variety was uniform and stable and it was subsequently named 'SAKPXC018' in April 2014.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'SAKPXC018' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 2018/0447, purchased from Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2019. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
