Origin & Breeding History: 'SAKPXC019' (experimental designation 'K2015-J-255) originated from a hybridization conducted by the breeders in Kakegawa, Japan in December 2013. The hybridization was made between the female parent, a proprietary Petunia line named '6Pe-620' and the male parent, a proprietary Calibrachoa line named '2AM-89A-1A-1'. In January 2014, embryo recue techniques were used to obtain a single ovule. In July 2014, one plant was successfully grown from the ovule culture procedure and was selected based on flower colour and plant growth habit. Further evaluations were conducted and in April 2015 the breeders confirmed that the new variety was distinct, uniform and stable. It was subsequently named 'SAKPXC019'.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'SAKPXC019' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 2017/2926, purchased from Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2018. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
