Origin & Breeding History: 'SAKPXC021' (experimental designation K2014-J-137) originated from a hybridization conducted by the breeder in Kakegawa, Japan in December 2011. The hybridization was made between the female parent, Petunia proprietary line named '3ERP-15R-1' and the male parent, proprietary Calibrachoa line named '2PHY-69A-1'. From the resulting progeny, approximately eight ovule seeds were obtained in June 2012, and grown in a greenhouse in July 2012. In January 2013, the breeder selected 'K2014-J-137' based on its flower colour, blooming vigour and plant growth habit. In February 2013, the selected plant was vegetatively propagated to produce root cuttings and evaluated in an open field. In May 2013, the variety was found to be stable and it was propagated again in December 2013. The breeder confirmed that the new variety was uniform and stable and it was subsequently named 'SAKPXC021' in April 2014.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'SAKPXC021' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 2018/0449, purchased from Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2019. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
