Origin & Breeding History: 'SAKPXC028' originated from a hybridization conducted between the female parent Petunia variety SAKPET098' and the male parent, a proprietary Calibrachoa line designated 6HXC-1As2A', in Kakegawa, Japan in December 2017. The resulting F1 plants were evaluated in Misato, Japan in an open field trial and a single plant was selected based on branching plant habit and flower colour. Root cuttings of the selected plant were produced and resulting plants were cultivated and evaluated in an open field in Misato, Japan from April to August of 2018. Further propagation and field trials were conducted in Salinas, California, USA from shoot tip cuttings and the new variety was confirmed to be uniform and stable and subsequently named 'SAKPXC028'.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'SAKPXC028' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 20212630, purchased from Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2022. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
