Origin & Breeding History: 'SAKPXC026' originated from a hybridization conducted by the breeder in Kakegawa, Japan in December 2014. The hybridization was made between the female parent, proprietary Petunia line named '4PF1-17A' and the male parent, proprietary Calibrachoa line named '2Phy-69A-4A-2A'. In January 2015, embryo rescue techniques were used to obtain eight ovules. In May 2015, two plants were obtained from which a single plant was selected based on flower colour, blooming vigour and plant growth habit. The selected plant was vegetatively propagated to produce root cuttings and evaluated in an open field in Misato, Japan in June 2015, and again in December 2015. The breeder confirmed that the new variety was uniform and stable and it was subsequently named 'SAKPXC026' in April 2016.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'SAKPXC026' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 2019/1068, purchased from Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2020. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
