Description:

PLANT: upright to spreading growth habit, medium to tall, short to medium length shoot

LEAF BLADE: medium to long, narrow to medium width, elliptic shape, obtuse apex, no variegation, medium green on upper side

PEDICEL: long, medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration
CALYX LOBE: long, narrow
FLOWER: single type, narrow to medium width, medium degree of lobing, medium number of flowers with different size of area of secondary colour
COROLLA LOBE: medium degree of undulation, very weak to weak conspicuousness of veins, cuspidate apex
COROLLA LOBE (INNER SIDE): medium yellow (RHS 7A) when newly opened, medium yellow (RHS 7A-12A) with small area of medium orange pink (RHS 170D) at margin of corolla when fully opened, medium yellow (RHS 10A) when aged
COROLLA TUBE: medium width, light brown (RHS 166D) on inner side, weak conspicuousness of veins on inner side, medium green brown (RHS 153D) on outer side
ANTHER: whitish pollen

Origin & Breeding History: ‘SAKPXC029' was discovered in Kakegawa, Japan in September of 2017, as a mutation of the variety ‘SAKPXC021'. In August 2018 and 2019, the plants were evaluated in an open field trial in Kakegawa, Japan. The variety ‘SAKPXC029' was selected as a single plant in Misato, Japan in December 2018 based on plant habit and flower colour. Asexual propagation by shoot-tip cuttings was subsequently conducted in Salinas, California, USA.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of ‘SAKPXC029' is based on the UPOV Report of Technical Examination, application number 20203175, purchased from Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the Bundessortenamt in Hannover, Germany in 2022. Colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
