Summary: The ground colour of the inner side of the petal is dark blue violet for ‘311NR' whereas it is medium purple for ‘Wedding Promenade'. The ground colour of the apical lobe is dark blue violet for ‘311NR' whereas it is medium violet for ‘Wedding Promenade'.

PLANT: medium height

LEAF: short to medium length, medium width, very elongated shape, broadest part at middle, moderately asymmetric apex, obtuse, semi-erect attitude, no variegation
LEAF (UPPER SIDE): no spots, yellowish green, absent or very weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration

PEDUNCLE: medium length and thickness, absent or weak to medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration
INFLORESCENCE: only one, panicle type, medium length flowering part, medium number of flowers
FLOWER: convex in lateral view, medium length and width in front view, free arrangement of petals, absent or weak fragrance
DORSAL SEPAL: medium to long, medium width, moderately elongated shape, broadest at middle, straight along longitudinal and cross-section, no twisting, no undulation of margin, dark blue violet (RHS N88B) ground colour of inner side, few to medium dark blue violet (RHS N88A) stripes, low density of netting, netting dark blue violet (RHS N88A)

Origin & Breeding History: ‘311NR' originated from a gene introduction in the Phalaenopsis variety ‘Wedding Promenade' from Commelina communis. The initial gene introduction occurred in December 2007 at Chiba University, Faculty of Horticulture, Laboratory of Plant Cell Technology in Matsudo, Chiba, Japan. The variety was selected in May 2014 for its aesthetic traits including flower colour and shape.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of ‘311NR' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 35624, purchased from the Plant Variety Protection Office, Intellectual Property Division, Export and International Affairs Bureau, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries in Tokyo, Japan in 2023. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
