The lower leaf blade is medium green in colour and there is no variegation in the leaf blade. The leaf blade has a petiole present. There is one flowering period that is mid to late in the season with a medium duration. The flower type is a panicle inflorescence. The flower attitude is erect and is both terminal and axillary in position. The corolla is salverform in shape with partially fused lobes. The lobes of the corolla are medium in size with an entire margin that has medium undulation of the margin.
Origin & Breeding History: 'Lizzy' originated from a selection from a seed bed of hybrid Phlox paniculata seedlings that were produced from various crosses of unidentified Phlox seedling selections, in the Netherlands in 1995. The selection criteria were based on unique floral traits and its disease resistance.
Tests & Trials: Tests and trials for 'Lizzy' were conducted in the summer of 2001 at Oxford Station, Ontario. The trials consisted of 10 plants of each variety, field planted in rows that were 1 metre apart with plants 0.40 metres apart within the row.
