Variety used for comparison: 'Junior Dream'

Summary: The anthocyanin colouration on the stem of 'PHMZ0005' is of medium intensity while it is absent or very weak for that of 'Junior Dream'. In cross-section, the leaf blade of 'PHMZ0005' is convex to straight while that of 'Junior Dream' is concave. The outer side of the corolla tube of 'PHMZ0005' is dark purple red while that of 'Junior Dream' is medium violet.

Origin & Breeding History: 'PHMZ0005' was bred and developed by the breeder at Ditoplant Export B.V. in Noordwijkerhout, Netherlands. It originated from an open pollinated cross that occurred in the summer of 2014 between two unknown seedlings in Noordwijkerhout, Netherlands. Seeds were harvested and sown in December 2014. From the resulting progeny, a single unique plant was selected in the summer of 2016 based on its plant height, dense branching and red purple flowers.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'PHMZ0005' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2020/0180, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted at the Naktuinbouw Variety Center in Roelofarendsveen, Netherlands in 2021. The colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
