Origin & Breeding History: 'NPCW12200' was bred and developed by Guido von Tubeuf of Stuttgart, Germany. It originated from a controlled pollination conducted in Nairobi, Kenya, in November/December 2007, between 'P 212', as the female parent, and 'R 1523', as the male parent. From the resulting progeny, seedlings were selected in October 2008 in Stuttgart, Germany, for their bract and foliage quality, and bract colour. These selected seedlings were evaluated in annual greenhouse trials in Stuttgart from August to December in 2009 to 2012. 'NPCW12200' was selected in December 2010 for commercialization.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'NPCW12200' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2012/2773, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the University of Aarhus in Aarslev, Denmark, in 2013 and 2014. Colour determinations were made using the 2001 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
