Variety Description
Variety used for comparison: 'Pepmondk'
Summary: The plants of 'PER2009' are very short with a narrow to medium width leaf blade and very many partly bract-coloured transitional leaves whereas the plants of 'Pepmondk' are medium in height with a medium to broad leaf blade and many partly bract-coloured transitional leaves. The intensity of green colour on the upper side of the leaf blade is strong for 'PER2009' whereas the intensity of green colour is medium for 'Pepmondk'. The depth of the deepest sinus of the leaf blade is absent or very shallow for 'PER2009' whereas the depth is medium for 'Pepmondk'. The length of the largest bract (including the petiole) is medium in length for 'PER2009' whereas the the largest bract of 'Pepmondk' is long. The colour of the spots on the lower side of the bract is dark purple red for 'PER2009' whereas the colour of the spots on the lower side of the bract of 'Pepmondk' is dark pink red. The time of opening of the cyathia of 'PER2009' is very early to early whereas the cyathia of 'Pepmondk' opens mid-season.

LEAF BLADE: medium length, narrow to medium width, ovate shape, rounded base, one colour on upper side, strong intensity of green colour on upper and lower sides, only green on upper side of main vein, none or few lobes, depth of deepest sinus is absent or very shallow, absent or weak curvature of main vein
TRANSITIONAL LEAF: medium degree of lobing
PARTLY BRACT-COLOURED TRANSITIONAL LEAF: very many

Origin & Breeding History: 'PER2009' was discovered and developed at the FloraBunda Nursery in Encinitas, California, USA. It was selected in December 2006 for its dark rose pink blushed bract colour, dark green foliage and compact plant growth habit.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'PER2009' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2013/1175, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the University of Aarhus in Aarslev, Denmark, in 2014. Colour determinations were made using the 2001 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
