Summary: The plants of LAZZPO1623' have a medium number of branches whereas those of NPCW10158' have medium to many branches. The middle third of the stem of LAZZPO1623' has a very weak to weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration whereas that of NPCW10158' has a weak to medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration. The leaf blade of LAZZPO1623' is long to very long whereas that of NPCW10158' is medium to long. The leaf blade of LAZZPO1623' is of medium width whereas that of NPCW10158' is broad to very broad. The upper side of the leaf blade of LAZZPO1623' is medium to dark green whereas that of NPCW10158' is dark green. The lower side of the petiole of LAZZPO1623' has a medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration whereas that of NPCW10158' has strong anthocyanin colouration. The bract of LAZZPO1623' has weak rugosity between veins whereas that of NPCW10158' has a medium degree of rugosity between veins. Including the petiole, the largest bract of LAZZPO1623' is medium to long and medium to broad whereas that of NPCW10158' is long and of medium width.

Origin & Breeding History: LAZZPO1623' originated from a controlled hybrid cross between the female parent variety Superba Red' and pollen from the male parent, a proprietary selection, 2010-930-017', conducted in Merano, Italy between March and June of 2013. The new variety LAZZPO1623' was selected in December 2014 in Sabaudia, Italy based on bract colour, plant shape and foliage colour. Asexual reproduction by cuttings was initiated in Sabaudia, Italy in July of 2015.
Tests & Trials: The detailed description of LAZZPO1623' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 2021/2517, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office in Angers, France. The trials were conducted at the Centralny Orodek Badania Odmian Rolin Uprawnych (COBORU) Research Center for Cultivar Testing in Srem, Poland from 2022 to 2023. The colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
