Variety used for comparison: 'Anuschka'

Summary: The shape of the lightsprout of 'Isabelia' is ovoid whereas the lightsprout of 'Anuschka' is spherical. The tip of the lightsprout of 'Isabelia' has weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration and dense pubescence whereas the tip of the lightsprout of 'Anuschka' has strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration and absent or very sparse to sparse pubescence. The lightsprout of 'Isabelia' has long lateral shoots whereas the lightsprout of 'Anuschka' has short lateral shoots. The plants of 'Isabelia' are shorter than the plants of 'Anuschka'. The foliage structure of Isabelia is stem to intermediate type where the foliage is open to half open and stems are clearly to partly visible whereas the foliage structure of 'Anuschka' is leaf type where the foliage is closed and the stems are not or hardly visible. The inner side of the corolla of 'Isabelia' has absent or very weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration whereas the corolla of 'Anuschka' has weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Isabelia' originated from a cross conducted in 2002 between 'L98/901/195' and 'L96/225/309' in Ebstorf, Lower Saxony, Germany between. 'Isabelia' was selected in 2003 for its positive agronomic characteristics.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Isabelia' was conducted by Global Agri Services Inc. during the growing season of 2016 in Drummond, New Brunswick. The trial consisted of a single, 19.5 metre long row containing 65 plants spaced 0.3 metres apart for each variety. The distance between rows within the trial was 0.9 metres. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety. Mean differences were significant at the 5% probability level based on a paired Student's t-test.
