Summary: The size of the lightsprout for 'Rose Gold Fingerling' is medium whereas it is very small to small for 'Pink Fir Apple'. The lightsprout for 'Rose Gold Fingerling' has a medium number of root tips whereas there are few root tips on the lightsprout for 'Pink Fir Apple'. The plants of 'Rose Gold Fingerling' have a semi-upright growth habit whereas the plants of 'Pink Fir Apple' have an upright growth habit. The midrib of the upper side of the leaf blade of 'Rose Gold Fingerling' has a medium extent of weak anthocyanin colouration whereas there is a high extent of a medium intensity of anthocyanin coloration on the midrib for 'Pink Fir Apple'. Origin & Breeding History: 'Rose Gold Fingerling' (experimental designation 06-363) originated from a cross between the variety 'Pink Fir Apple', as the female parent, and the variety 'Monalisa', as the male parent, conducted in 2006, at the Jan Darwinkle Breeding Station, Netherlands. From the resulting progeny, 'Rose Gold Fingerling' was selected in 2014 based on negative mass selection for agronomic characteristics and disease resistances.

Tests & Trials: The comparative test and trial for 'Rose Gold Fingerling' was conducted by Global Agri Services Inc, in Drummond, New Brunswick, during the 2017 growing season. The trial consisted of 70 plants per variety, one variety per 21.2 metre row. The rows were spaced 0.9 metres apart and plants were spaced 0.3 metres apart within the row. The observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety. The mean difference was significant at the 5% probability level based on paired Student's t-tests.
