In relation to the base of the lightsprout, the size of the tip is small for 'Lollipop' whereas the size of the tip is medium for 'Norland'. The tip of the lightsprout of 'Lollipop' has a closed habit with strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration whereas the tip of the lightsprout of 'Norland' has an intermediate habit with weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration. The plants of 'Lollipop' mature mid-season whereas the plants of 'Norland' mature early. The upper side of the leaflet of 'Lollipop' is dull whereas the leaflet of 'Norland' is glossy. The extent of anthocyanin colouration of the flower bud is high for 'Lollipop' whereas the extent is absent or very low for 'Norland'. The frequency of inflorescences per plant is absent or very low for 'Lollipop' whereas the frequency is low for 'Norland'.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Lollipop' (experimental designation PR07-55-1) originated from an open pollinated cross in 2005 between the variety 'Chieftain', as the female parent, and an unknown male parent at Privar Farm Inc. on Prince Edward Island, Canada. From the resulting progeny, 'Lollipop' was selected in 2007 based on negative mass selection for agronomic characteristics and disease resistances.

Tests & Trials: The comparative test and trial for 'Lollipop' was conducted by Global Agri Services Inc. during the growing season of 2017 in Drummond, New Brunswick. There were 70 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. The trial consisted of a single, 21.2 metre long row with plants spaced 0.3 metres apart for each variety. The distance between rows within the trial was 0.9 metres. The observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety.
