The lightsprout tip of 'Lilly' is small in relation to the base with a medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration whereas that of 'Snowden' is medium sized in relation to the base with absent or very weak anthocyanin colouration. The upper side of the leaf for 'Lilly' is medium green whereas it is light green for 'Snowden'. The plants of 'Lilly' have a high to very high frequency of inflorescences whereas the plants of 'Snowden' have a low frequency of inflorescences. The tuber of 'Lilly' has shallow eyes and dark yellow flesh whereas the tuber of 'Snowden' has medium to deep eyes and cream coloured flesh.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Lilly' (experimental number 04-225-2) originated from a cross between 'Gunda', as the female parent, and 'Opal', as the male parent, conducted in 2005 at the SaKa Pflanzenzucht GmbH and Co. KG breeding program in Windeby, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. In 2005, the seed resulting from the cross was sown in the greenhouse. The resulting tubers were harvested and planted in the field in 2006 in Windeby, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. 'Lilly' was selected in 2006 based on negative mass selection for agronomic characteristics and disease resistance.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Lilly' was conducted by Global Agri Services Inc. during the 2019 growing season in Drummond, New Brunswick. The trial consisted of a single, 21 metre long row per variety. Each row contained 70 plants spaced 0.3 metres apart with an inter-row spacing of 0.9 metres.
