Summary: The lightsprout for 'Anouk' is ovoid in shape with absent or very weak anthocyanin colouration at the base while that of 'Perline' is broad cylindrical in shape with a strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration at the base. The tip of the lightsprout for 'Anouk' has a closed habit and absent or very sparse to sparse pubescence whereas that of 'Perline' has an open habit and medium to dense pubescence. The intensity of anthocyanin colouration at the tip of the lightsprout for 'Anouk' is absent or very weak while that of 'Perline' is of medium intensity. The leaflet for 'Anouk' has a weak waviness of margin while the leaflet of 'Perline' has a medium degree of waviness of margin. The plants of 'Anouk' are taller than those of 'Perline'. The frequency of inflorescence per plant is medium for 'Anouk' while it is low for 'Perline'. The plants of 'Anouk' mature late in the season while those of 'Perline' mature mid-season. The tuber of 'Anouk' is short oval in shape with shallow eyes while that of 'Perline' is round with eyes at a medium depth.

Origin & Breeding History: 'Anouk' (experimental designation AR 03-3410) resulted from the cross between 'Ampera', as the female parent, and AR 95-1073, as the male parent, conducted in 2002 at the Agrico Research breeding station in Bant, The Netherlands. Seed resulting from the cross was grown in a greenhouse in 2003 and the resulting tubers were field planted in Bant, The Netherlands in 2004. AR 03-3410 was identified in 2004 as one of the resulting selections. Selection criteria was based on negative mass selection for agronomic characteristics and disease resistance.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Anouk' was conducted by Global Agri Services Inc. during the 2018 growing season in Drummond, New Brunswick. The trial consisted of a single, 21 metre long row containing 70 plants spaced 0.3 metres apart for each variety. The distance between rows within the trial was 0.9 metres. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety. The mean difference was significant at the 5% probability level based on a paired Student's t-test.
