Summary: The lightsprout of 'AAC Brookville' is broad cylindrical in shape whereas the lightsprout of 'Russet Burbank' is ovoid. The lightsprout of 'AAC Brookville' is medium to large with many root tips and medium length lateral shoots whereas that of 'Russet Burbank' is small to medium with few root tips and short lateral shoots. At the base of the lightsprout, the proportion of blue is medium for 'AAC Brookville' whereas the proportion of blue is absent or low for 'Russet Burbank'. The pubescence on the lightsprout of 'AAC Brookville' is sparse whereas the pubescence is of medium density at the base and dense at the tip of the lightsprout for 'Russet Burbank'. The plant of 'AAC Brookville' has a spreading growth habit while the plant of 'Russet Burbank' has a semi-upright growth habit. The extent of anthocyanin colouration on the stem of 'AAC Brookville' is low whereas it is absent or very low on the stem of 'Russet Burbank'. The leaf outline of 'AAC Brookville' is small to medium whereas it is medium to large for 'Russet Burbank'. The openness of the leaf of 'AAC Brookville' is intermediate between open and closed whereas the leaf of 'Russet Burbank' is open. The upper side of the leaf of 'ACC Brookville' is medium to dark green whereas the leaf of 'Russet Burbank' is light to medium green.

Origin & Breeding History: 'AAC Brookville' (experimental designations 'AR2010-01' and 'CV01238-3') originated from a cross made between the varieties 'AO92128-4.1' and 'Silverton Russet' conducted at the Colorado State University San Luis Valley Research Centre, in Center, Colorado, USA, in 2001. In 2002, the true potato seed resulting from the cross was sown in a greenhouse at Colorado State University and the resulting seedling tubers planted at the Vauxhall Research Substation of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Vauxhall, Alberta, in 2003. A clone designated as 'CV01238-3' was selected in 2003 from a single hill trial based on vine maturity, tuber appearance, shape and size.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'AAC Brookville' was conducted during the 2018 growing season at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Fredericton Research and Development Centre, in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The trial consisted of 2 replicates of 30 plants per replicate for each variety, grown in two 7.5 metre length rows spaced 90 centimetres apart. The plants were spaced 25 centimetres apart within the row. The measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety.
