Variety used for comparison: 'All Red'
Summary: The lightsprout of 'AAC Odyssey' is ovoid in shape whereas it is broad cylindrical for 'All Red'. The base of the lightsprout for 'AAC Odyssey' has a strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration and sparse pubescence while that of 'All Red' has a very strong intensity of anthocyanin colouration and a medium density of pubescence. The lightsprout of 'AAC Odyssey' has few root tips while that of 'All Red' has many root tips. The stem of 'AAC Odyssey' has a low extent of anthocyanin colouration while that of 'All Red' has a medium extent of anthocyanin colouration. The upper side of the leaf of 'AAC Odyssey' is medium green whereas it is dark green for 'All Red'. The upper side of the leaf midrib for 'AAC Odyssey' has a weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration while that of 'All Red' has a medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration. The plants of 'AAC Odyssey' have a low frequency of inflorescences while the plants of 'All Red' have a medium frequency of inflorescences. The inner side of the corolla of 'AAC Odyssey' has a medium extent of medium intensity anthocyanin colouration while that of 'All Red' has a high extent of strong intensity anthocyanin colouration. The plants of 'AAC Odyssey' mature mid-season while those of 'All Red' mature late in the season. The tuber for 'AAC Odyssey' is oval in shape while it is long oval for 'All Red'.

Origin & Breeding History: 'AAC Odyssey' (experimental designations AR2015-12, F10090 and 15789-14) originated from a cross made between the variety 'Huckleberry' and the experimental line F02041 conducted at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Fredericton Research and Development Centre, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, in 2008. In 2009, the true potato seed resulting from the cross was sown in a greenhouse at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Fredericton Research and Development Centre and the resulting seedling tubers planted at the Benton Ridge Research Substation of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada near Woodstock, New Brunswick, in 2010. A clone designated as 15789-14 was selected in 2010 from a single hill trial based on vine maturity, tuber appearance, shape, size and flesh colour.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'AAC Odyssey' was conducted during the 2019 growing season at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada's Fredericton Research and Development Centre, in Fredericton, New Brunswick. The trial consisted of 2 replicates per variety arranged in a RCB design. Each replicate consisted of 40 plants in a 12 metre length row. The rows were spaced 90 centimetres apart and the plants were spaced 25 centimetres apart within the row.
