Summary: The anthocyanin colouration of the lightsprout base for 'CRPTQ Sana' is strong while it is of medium intensity for 'Superior'. 'CRPTQ Sana' has medium density pubescence at the base of the lightsprout while it is absent or very sparse for 'Superior'. The tip of the lightsprout in relation to the base of 'CRPTQ Sana' is medium sized while it is small for 'Superior'. The anthocyanin colouration of the lightsprout tip for 'CRPTQ Sana' is weak while it is of medium intensity for 'Superior'. The plants of 'CRPTQ Sana' have a semi-erect growth habit and a leaf type foliage structure while that of 'Superior' has an erect growth habit and an intermediate type foliage structure. The anthocyanin colouration on the stem of 'CRPTQ Sana' is of weak to medium intensity along the entire stem while it is of absent or very weak intensity at the base of the stem only for 'Superior'. The leaf outline of 'CRPTQ Sana' ranges from medium to large and large while it is small for 'Superior'. The frequency of inflorescences per plant for 'CRPTQ Sana' is absent or very low while it is medium to high for 'Superior'. The base of the eye of the tuber for 'CRPTQ Sana' is red while it is white for 'Superior'.

LIGHTSPROUT TIP: medium size in relation to base, closed habit, weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration, absent or very sparse pubescence

PLANT: leaf type foliage structure, semi-erect growth habit, mid-season maturity
STEM: weak to medium intensity of anthocyanin colouration along the entire length more pronounced at the nodes

LEAVES: ranging from medium to large and large outline, open openness, medium presence of secondary leaflets, medium green, absent or very weak extent of absent or very weak intensity of anthocyanin colouration on the midrib of the upper side, absent or very low frequency of coalescence of terminal and lateral leaflets
SECOND PAIR OF LATERAL LEAFLETS: leaflet narrower than long

INFLORESCENCE: absent or very low frequency of inflorescences per plant
FLOWER BUD: medium extent of anthocyanin colouration, typically aborts before flowering

TUBER: round, white flesh

Origin & Breeding History: 'CRPTQ Sana' originated from a cross made between the female parent variety 'Marcy' and the male parent variety 'QP96139.01' at Les Buissons Research Centre in Pointe-aux-Outardes, Quebec, Canada in 2009. In 2011, the variety was first selected in the field in Pointe-aux-Outardes, Quebec based on its appearance, agronomic qualities, specific gravity, disease resistance and the prevalence of internal and external defects.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'CRPTQ Sana' was conducted during the 2023 growing season in Pointe-aux-Outardes, Quebec. Plots were 14 metres by 19 metres totalling 266 squared metres and consisted of 60 plants per variety. Plants were grown in 4 replications with a row length of 5 metres, a row spacing of 1 metre and a plant interspacing of 0.3 metres.
