Origin & Breeding History: 'Cartier' (experimental designation AG 1534) originated from the cross between 'AG0703.12' and 'Red Maria', conducted at the Progest 2001 Inc. breeding station in Sainte-Croix, Quebec, Canada in 2014. One of the resulting progeny was designated AG 1534 in 2018 based on tuber shape, skin colour, and the overall appearance.
Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'Cartier' was conducted in Sainte-Croix, Quebec during the 2024 growing season. The field trial consisted of 4 replicates with plots arranged in a RCB design. Each plot was a 5-metre-long hilled row containing 25 plants spaced 20 cm apart. Rows were spaced 0.915 metres apart. Lightsprout characteristics were assessed on 10 tubers harvested from the comparative trial and observed approximately 2.5 to 3 months after storage at 4 degrees Celsius.
