Variety Description

Varieties used for comparison: 'Bo Peep' and 'Lissdan'

Summary: The plant growth habit of 'Hachliss' is semi-spreading whereas that of 'Lissdan' is spreading. The young stem of 'Hachliss' is green tinged lightly with purple whereas that of 'Bo Peep' is purple. The flowers of 'Hachliss' are medium to large whereas those of 'Lissdan' are large. The flower of 'Hachliss' is saucer-shaped in profile whereas that of 'Bo Peep' is flat. The inner side of the petals of 'Hachliss' is purple red whereas that of 'Lissdan' is dark purple red. The outer side of the petals of 'Hachliss' is light yellow orange whereas that of 'Bo Peep' is light red pink with grey tones.

LEAF: medium length, medium width, very low to low length to width ratio, brown green (paler and more yellow than RHS 146A), no variegation, medium density pubescence on upper side, absent or very sparse pubescence on lower side, few leaflets, no overlapping of top three leaflets
LEAFLET: narrow elliptic, slightly recurved margin
STIPULES: medium brown

Origin & Breeding History: 'Hachliss' originated from a controlled cross pollination conducted by the breeder in the summer of 2003 in Barmstedt, Germany. The cross was conducted between the female parent variety Potentilla fruticosa 'Rosiflor' and the male parent variety Potentilla fruticosa 'Red Ace'. The new Potentilla variety 'Hachliss' was selected as a single plant in July 2006 based on its plant habit, flowering characteristics (including colour) and resistance to powdery mildew. Asexual reproduction of 'Hachliss' was first conducted in July 2006 by softwood cuttings in Barmstedt, Germany.

Tests & Trials: The detailed description of 'Hachliss' is based on the UPOV report of Technical Examination, application number 20140007, purchased from the Community Plant Variety Office, in Angers, France. The trial was conducted by the National Institute of Agricultural Botany, in Cambridge, United Kingdom, in 2015. The colour determinations were made using the 2007 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) Colour Chart.
