A single seedling was selected from the resultant progeny in October 2018, based on plant vigor, plant habit, flower size, flower colour and duration of flower opening. Asexual reproduction of 'WNPORMYEL23' was first conducted by cuttings in October 2018 in Texas, U.S.A.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'WNPORMYEL23' was conducted in a polyhouse at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario during the summer of 2023. The trial included a total of 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 15 cm pots. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety. The mean differences were significant at the 5% probability level based on a paired Student's t-test. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) colour chart.
