Variety used for comparison: 'Mega Pazzaz Purple'

Summary: The plants of 'WGPORMF25' have an arching and spreading growth habit while those of ‘Mega Pazzaz Purple' have a semi-upright to spreading growth habit. The plants of 'WGPORMF25' are shorter than those of ‘Mega Pazzaz Purple'. The stem of 'WGPORMF25' has a small diameter while that of ‘Mega Pazzaz Purple' has a medium sized diameter. The leaf blade of 'WGPORMF25' is longer and narrower than that of ‘Mega Pazzaz Purple'. The leaf blade of 'WGPORMF25' is oblanceolate with an acute apex while that of ‘Mega Pazzaz Purple' is obovate with an obtuse apex. The upper side of the leaf blade of 'WGPORMF25' is medium green while that of ‘Mega Pazzaz Purple' is dark green. The sepal of 'WGPORMF25' is longer and narrower than that of ‘Mega Pazzaz Purple'. The inner side of the corolla lobe of 'WGPORMF25' is mainly medium purple with a medium red to orange red secondary colour at the base transitioning to medium yellow at the very base while that of ‘Mega Pazzaz Purple' is mainly medium purple to dark blue pink with a light yellow orange secondary colour at base transitioning to medium yellow at the very base. The outer side of the corolla lobe of 'WGPORMF25' is medium purple while that of ‘Mega Pazzaz Purple' is medium purple to dark blue pink.

Origin & Breeding History: 'WGPORMF25' originated from a controlled cross conducted in June 2017 in Ticoplant, Alajuela, Costa Rica between the female parent variety ‘SunDome Pink' and the male parent variety ‘SunDome Rose'. A single flowering plant was selected from the resulting progeny in October 2020, based on plant growth habit, plant vigour, flower colour, flower coverage, duration of flower opening during daylight hours and container and landscape performance. Asexual reproduction of 'WGPORMF25' was first conducted by terminal cuttings in October 2020 in Mustang Ridge, Texas, U.S.A.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'WGPORMF25' was conducted in a polyhouse at BioFlora Inc. in St. Thomas, Ontario during the summer of 2025. The trial included a total of 20 plants each of the candidate and reference variety. All plants were grown from rooted cuttings and transplanted into 15 cm pots on April 7, 2025. Observations and measurements were taken from 10 plants, or 10 parts of plants, of each variety on June 23, 2025. The mean differences were significant at the 5% probability level based on a paired Student's t-test. All colour determinations were made using the 2015 Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) colour chart.
