Summary: The plants of 'DrisRaspFive' have many current season's canes whereas 'Maravilla' has a medium number of current season's canes and 'DrisRaspFour' has few current season's canes. The vegetative bud on a current season's cane of 'DrisRaspFive' is short whereas that on 'DrisRaspFour' is long. The spines on 'DrisRaspFive' are sparse whereas those on 'DrisRaspFour' are dense. The leaflets of 'DrisRaspFive' are straight in cross-section whereas those for 'Maravilla' are convex and those for 'DrisRaspFour' are concave. The flower for 'DrisRaspFive' is medium sized whereas that for 'Maravilla' is small and that for 'DrisRaspFour' is large. The fruit of 'DrisRaspFive' is long and broad conical in lateral view whereas the fruit of 'Maravilla' is medium length and medium conical; and that of 'DrisRaspFour' is short and circular. The fruit of 'DrisRaspFive' is broad whereas that of 'DrisRaspFour' is of medium width. The previous and current season's cane of 'DrisRaspFive' begin flowering mid-season whereas those of 'Maravilla' begin late and those of 'DrisRaspFour' begin very late. The fruit on the previous and current season's cane of 'DrisRaspFive' ripen mid-season whereas those of 'Maravilla' ripen late and those of 'DrisRaspFour' ripen very late.

Origin & Breeding History: 'DrisRaspFive' originated from a controlled cross between the proprietary varieties 'Maravilla' (female parent) and 'DrisRaspFour' (male parent). The cross was conducted in Santa Cruz, California in April 2002. 'DrisRaspFive' was selected from the seedling population in August 2003 based on fruit colour and percentage of primocane fruit. 'DrisRaspFive' was asexually propagated in Santa Cruz, California and underwent propagation and continued testing in Kent, United Kingdom from 2005 to 2013.

Tests & Trials: The comparative trial for 'DrisRaspFive' was conducted in Chilliwack, British Columbia during the 2018 growing season. The plots were planted in the spring of 2017 in a randomized complete block design (RCBD). Each variety consisted of 4 replicates with 3 plants per replicate for a total of 12 plants of each variety. Plants were spaced approximately 76 centimetres apart within rows and 3 metres between rows.
